Freak Out

Since the DJ Shadow competition has been pushed back, I thought I'd post some more paintings I've worked on during the holiday break. 

I've been practicing new techniques and specifically trying to paint faster.  This painting turned out super messy because of how fast I tried to paint it, I've recently tried to step away from using just soft brushes for the entire painting, and in this one I used a hard edged brush.  I like the impressionistic feel this one gives off, but I think next time I'm going to try to use a blend of different brush types. 

I'm also trying to use more saturated colors, and instead of mixing colors on the canvas, try to be more deliberate with the color choices I put down.  It's been fun!  It's always fun to try new things.  I hope you enjoy the results!

welcoming 2012!

Hi all!  This blog hasn't been able to get much love lately, I just wanted to tell everyone, HAPPY NEW YEAR! 

I'm going to post more often, I've been keeping quite busy lately.  I have a few paintings I've finished, but have been waiting for the right time to post them.  But I just wanted to send out some love to everyone who checks in on this blog, and the surfers of the internet.

Adventure Time!

The new job's been treating me pretty good!  I like the work.  It's satisfying, and i draw everyday!  During the commute I've been able to draw a lot.  I've been thinking about getting a tablet so i can maybe do some digital painting on the train, but for now, I'm having fun with the drawings that i do on the train. 

Also, I've been working on this adventure time fan art in my spare time!  Hope you like it!

Good Vs. Evil

It's been a long hiatus!  I promise I've been painting, but I got a new job in Providence, RI.  The commute's been pretty brutal, so I've been painting during the little time i have while I'm not working/commuting. 

I've been thinking about doing a Good Vs. Evil painting, but i wanted to do something a little different.  I mixed that idea with an idea I had with painting a baseball scene (which is odd for me, I don't follow sports at all).  And this is what I came up with!  Enjoy!

Shy doll

Just started a tumblr today.  I thought it'd be a good way to see some reblogs or something like that.  I painted this image to use as a background image on that site, the colors are a bit crazy, so i guess it makes the site look a bit confusing.  I'm probably going to tweak this image a bit so you can see that site without burning your retinas.

Just thought i'd post some sketches i've done over the days.  I've tried doing a redesign of cyclops from the x-men, and then did some anatomy studies, and then some dragons!

Monster Motor

I've had this image in my head for a while.  Maybe it's the sound of engines, it just sounds like there's a huge monster in there some times. 

Beauty and the Beast

I must have lost my mind to have made this image. 

I pretty much painted this, because I thought it was funny that no matter how open minded of an artist I talked to, they look down their nostrils when it comes to furry art.  Kinda reminded me of what i went through in college trying to defend anime and manga.  I'm not even involved in that whole scene, but i thought why not?!
