More Inking

 The inking continues!

I'm getting a bit more familiar with what I can get away free hand and what i need to use a ruler for.  Basically any line that's shorter than my index finger, I can get done with just free handing, but any line longer than that, I need a ruler to keep my hand steady.  The problem is if I have to reposition my elbow mid stroke, the line becomes wobbly, and the line weight becomes inconsistent.

I'm thinking it's time I try screen-toning.

Been watching a lot of car shows as inspiration.  Top Gear, and Fifth Gear being the major TV shows I've been watching, with a healthy dose of Initial D and Wangan Midnight.  They're super fun shows, especially if you're into cars.

At first I was looking for good car chase movies on netflix, but there's not a lot there to choose from...  Ronin definitely has my favorite car chase scenes, but other than that, I can't think of anything good.  Any suggestions?

Taking a break from this painting...

I'm going to take a break on this painting.  This painting has just frustrated the hell out of me as i worked on it.  Parts of it I like, but there's just something about this painting that i just don't like.  I'm going to work on other paintings, but hopefully when i come back to this one I'll figure out exactly what i don't like about it...  Enjoy it in the mean time!

Drum Machine

It's been a while!  I've been so busy with work, I seemed to have neglected posting!  From now on, I'm going to start posting in-progress shots as well as sketches, so I don't leave this blog unattended for weeks on end.  So check in often!

I've also been entertaining the idea of bringing back the LiveStream.  I had a lot of fun running those streams, and oddly enough I learned a lot of new techniques and ideas for paintings while running those streams.  The only problem was that towards the end of my streaming "career,"  I just had zero to a couple viewers at most, and it started feeling silly even bothering.  If anyone knows how to promote something like that, please send me some advice!  As long as there are viewers, I'd love to start running those again.

This painting came into being because I wanted to draw more robots.  I've been becoming more and more interested in robot designs that are more on the dumb side.  By that I mean designs that are redundant, or serves no purpose.  For example, I would describe a human piloting a robot that rides a bicycle as being hilariously dumb (sweet, a new idea for a painting!).  I just wanted to design something that was a clustering mess of mechanical parts, and this is what came out!
