It's that time of the year again! Summer time is here, and it's time to do another Summer Girl themed painting!

I just got my pages scanned on Saturday.  I just need a little bit more time to do clean up and screen toning!  Wait just a little longer, people!

7/22/2013 Long Hiatus, and Swaaaaag

This has probably been the longest hiatus I've been on so far.  But good news!  I finally finished inking my comic!  All that's left is to get the pages scanned, and some screen toning on the computer.  Just a little longer guys!

I got some fun ideas for the near future, so stay tuned!  In the mean time, enjoy a painting I did for my friend!

4/24/2013 Loooong Hiatus!

This was probably the longest hiatus I've taken off of this blog.  And the reason is I've been concentrating on the comic!

I'm at page 30!  I'm at the 2/3 point, so be patient guys!  This is happening!!!

I'll try to post more often, but finishing the comics is my highest priority now, so I probably won't be blogging 3 times a week like I want to.

2/24/2013 Double Page Spreads

Here's a shot of the double page spread I'm working on.  I'm doing my best not to show you every page I work on, because I want there to be the element of surprise when you finally get to read it.  But this page is a bit of an exception because I worked on it for so long and I was just too psyched not to show people! 

Been also messing around on my sketchbook.  Red and blue pencil lead sure makes everything prettier!

I should probably get a scanner for some of this shit.

2/14/2012 Valentines Day Fun

Well, it's that time of year.  This one's for all you forever alones out there!  Worry not, because I am one of you!

Close friends know, but now my dear readers will know that today, to me, is known as; Happy Renew My Xbox Live Annual Subscription Day!!!  Rip out the party poppers, cuz this is a day of celebration!!!

I try to make a nice little ritual of chattin with friends, renewing my annual subscriptions, and my favorite part of the day; draw something sexy!  And you guys get to reap the rewards of my annual tradition! Enjoy, friends!

2/4/2013 Shit that's goin

I'm going to post a few desk shots as well, but just to shake it up a bit, I'm posting some FAN ART!!!

Seems like I'm in a bit of a marvel kick these days.  I thought it'd be cool to do some Spiral fan art over the weekend.

Dance, you sweet lady, dance!

I'll be honest, I first fell in love with Spiral from watching people play her in Marvel Vs Capcom 2.  She has a bizarre dance for an idle animation, and she has really weird looking moves.

Readers who have good memory will remember I talked about my attraction towards weird fighting game characters.  I wondered for a while why she was so weird in MvC2, and one day I ended up on her Wikipedia page.  Apparently she has to do these elaborate hand gestures and dances to conjure up her cosmic powers, allowing her to teleport, skip dimensions, summon swords, etc.  WHICH IS TOTALLY AWESOME.  And that's pretty much when i fell in love with this character.

Last week I was passing by my co-worker's desk and saw this.  Pretty old news at this point, but I haven't been paying too much attention to what's going on in comics these days.  Spiral's part of the Uncanny X-Force!  I was stoked to see her again!  Seems like she's some sort of raver in the series, which is kind of a cool/silly re-imagining of her cosmic dances, but either way I'm actually interested in reading an American comic!

As promised, here are some more desk shots.  I'm finally done with the "build-up."  NOW IT'S TIME FOR ACTION!!! I still have a ton more pages to finish before this chapter is done.  But hold on to your horses, it'll all be worth it in the end!

Also, I'm working on another drawing project (doing the spiral fan-art has inspired me to do an ink painting.  More on this in the future.)  I dug up one of my old sketchbooks.  Finding it still had a few blank pages, I started to sketch in it.  But while I was flipping through it, I found a drawing I haven't shown anyone!  This is a really old drawing, but I was so psyched to see it.  I remember this drawing took me almost a week to finish, and I had to look at a TON of reference for it, too.

I'M DEFINITELY DOING MORE DRAWINGS LIKE THIS!!!

1/27/2013 Still In Progress

Hello Folks!  I'm staying true to my word, and I'm making another post WITHOUT the 3 month interim.  I'm just working hard on the comic whenever I have free time, and those who have made comics before know that this is a slow process.  Anyhow, it seems like I'm posting another desk shot!

1/21/2013 BACK FROM THE DEAD

Hopefully my delusions of grandeur have come true, and millions of people read this blog.  And those millions of people must have been wondering where I had gone.  I'm certain many people have come up with theories on how I must have died in an adventure with vikings.  These theories are surprisingly far from reality.

This is what is commonly referred to as a mess

This is pretty much where I've been spending all my spare time.  Since moving to Seattle, many things have happened, but one of those things is that I've had to re-write the story I've been working on.  Thankfully I have a good buddy to bounce ideas off of, and the prologue that I have finished inking doesn't have to go to waste.

Storyboards are really not pretty, and for the most part embarrassing to show to people.  That's why I've been neglecting posting this whole time.  Storyboarding is a slow process for me, and I've had to sketch out a lot of pages.  But now that that's done, and I'm doing work on actual boards, I have stuff to show that I'm not terribly embarrassed to show!

11/18/2012 BACK IN ACTION and other stories

I finally have a new apartment, received all my stuff from the movers, hooked up my internet, and now I'm fully back into the swing of things!

I thought I'd take a break from the comic for a couple days, and keep my painting skills sharp.  It seems whenever I start a job at a new place, I'm inspired to do a painting that relates to my new employment.  When I started working at 38 Studios I did a painting of baseball.  Now that I've started working at Playdom, I'm surrounded by Marvel stuff.  and I was inspired to make this painting!

11/10/2012 update

I feel bad that I have to keep apologizing for extended absences.  I have yet to hook up the Internet at my new apartment, and updating this blog with my iPad is a it of a pain in the ass!  But I made some good progress while I've been separated from the Internet, so I wanted to share!

Today, I finished inking page10!  With this, I have finished the prologue section to my comic.  Now I have to start screen toning these.  Something I haven't done in YEARS! Just wait a little bit more, you guys.  I'll have something cool for you guys to read very soon!

On a different note, thanks to everyone who has sent me birthday wishes.  It means a lot and I appreciate it.  Tonight, I'll crack open a beer and think of all my loved ones.  You guys mean the world to me.

9/22/2012 Living In Seattle

I have finally arrived in Seattle, and my job has now begun.  At the moment I'm staying with my sister as I look for a place to call my own.  

Because my sister lives in downtown Seattle I've been able to see a bit of the city, but because I work in Bellevue, a chunk of my day's been spent at work and commuting.  It's finally the weekend, and I'm about to do a bit of exploring.  Seattle's going to take a bit of getting used to, but so far it seems like a cool city.  

These paintings were done on my iPad using the Inspire Pro app.  Couldn't keep still, and thought I'd play around with iPad paintings!

9/13/2012 update

I really wish I had the chance to post some more progress shots of the comic before the move, but things got hectic real fast.  They've packed all my art supplies now, so i'll have to put the comic on hold for a few days.  I was hoping I'd have the prologue done before the move, but I fell 1 page short :-(  No worries, though.  I'll be done very soon, and I hope to have people read it as soon as possible!

In just a couple of days, I'll be in Seattle!  Wahoo!

9/1/2012 Update

 Holding slow and steady on the comic front.  Progress is by no means fast, but I'm at a comfortable pace.  I thought I'd update a bit of my work progress, so enjoy!

8/24/2012 Update

Slowly making progress!  I didn't want to keep everyone out of the loop, so I thought I'd post. 

I've been spending too much time working on not being unemployed, that progress has been much slower than I had hoped.  But no more!  I'm going to concentrate more on making this comic become a reality!

Some Fantasy Flavor

 So, I know I don't do much fantasy art, so I thought I'd give it a try.  It was quite fun!  I haven't made an image with so many layers in a long time.  It's good that I had been practicing painting without using layer types, because I found that I could manipulate paintings much faster, and with greater ease when I do use them.  Who knows, Maybe I'll do more fantasy paintings in the future!
